If you want to move Pokemon around in Pokopia, here’s what you need to know
There are a bunch of Pokemon to lure to your Pokopia island, and with you needing to create various habitats in order to do so, you’ll be travelling between areas to get the job done.
But, what if you want to move one or more Pokemon, from one location to another? Is that possible, or are you stuck with certain ‘mon in specific areas?
Let’s break that down so you know if you can huddle all of your favorites in one place.
Can you move Pokemon to different areas in Pokemon Pokopia?
The short answer to the question is yes, you absolutely can move Pokemon to different areas in Pokemon Pokopia, but there are a couple of catches that stop this from being a complete free-for-all.
The game lets you relocate a Pokemon by building a suitable new habitat or house, asking that Pokemon to follow you, taking it to another biome, and then asking it to move in. You can even walk or fast travel to another biome with a follower in tow, which is handy if you’re trying to fix a lopsided setup in one region.
However, the big restriction is that some Pokemon simply won’t be able to leave. When that happens, the game suggests they still have “unfinished business,” which usually means they’re tied to an active request, progression step, or a chain of tasks in that biome.
A good example of a Pokemon you should not expect to move early is Lapras. It is specifically tied to the Swimming Time request, where you need to find it, clear mud for it, and learn Surf before finishing the quest with Piplup. Until that chain is done, Lapras is clearly part of Bleak Beach’s progression.
Charmander is also effectively locked while Househunting is active, since that request revolves around building a den and inviting Charmander into it.
On the flip side, Pokemon that are not quest-critical are much more of a guarantee to move. Larvitar and Bonsly are solid examples, especially because they have the Bulldoze speciality, and Bulldoze Pokémon can be relocated to other areas to help restore wastelands. That makes them ideal imports if a biome is missing that utility.
One other thing to note is that there is a limit to how many Pokemon you can have in one area. We’re not 100% sure on what the exact number is, depending on the region, but just keep in mind you won’t be having all 300 in a single place.
