Here’s the lowdown on if shiny Pokemon are in Pokemon Pokopia

If you’re a fan of the Pokemon franchise, you might have encountered a shiny or two over the years. Because they’re extremely rare, its something that might keep you playing the same title over and over, doing a crazy number of resets in order to get the exact shiny you want.

With Pokemon Pokopia, there are a bunch of different Pokemon you can encounter as you build up the island exactly to your liking. But are shinies back in this spin-off? Let’s find out.

Does Pokemon Pokopia have shiny Pokemon?

While Pokopia is a little wacky, since you’re playing as a literal Ditto in human form, sadly, you’re not going to be able to go shiny hunting.

There are no shiny Pokemon in Pokopia, which will be an annoying exclusion for those of you who want to pump as many hours as possible into each and every game in the franchise.

It does, however, make a lot of sense why this is the case. You don’t go out hunting Pokemon in tall grass, you essentially make your island enticing through building up different areas and preferable habitats.

While shiny Pokemon won’t be popping up in Pokopia, at least there are some different variations of the creatures we know and love. You’ll be encountering Pokemon such as Mosslax, Peakychu, and Smearguru, which add a little spice to the run of the mill ‘mon.

Could shiny Pokemon be added in the future?

While we suggested that it does make sense that shiny Pokemon aren’t in Pokopia since there are no catching mechanics, there’s nothing to say that they won’t be included in a future update.

These might be added to a multiplayer mode, for example, where there are no story elements, and allow a little more freedom to the experience.

It is, however, more likely that additional Pokemon will just be added to the Pokedex instead, so we wouldn’t be holding your breath too much.
