After more than 43 million votes, Hollow Knight: Silksong was voted as Game of the Year in the 2025 Steam Awards

The 2D thriller beat out the incredibly popular ARC Raiders and Dispatch, as well as some of the best games of the year in Kingdom Come Deliverance II and Clair Obscure Expedition 33.

The award gives the game another prestigious prize after winning the Best Action-Adventure title at The 2025 Game Awards last month.

Hollow Knight: Silksong also wins Best Game You Suck At award

That was not the only award the game got in the 2025 Steam Awards, as it also won the Best Game You Suck At Award.

It beat out Where Winds Meet, Path of Exile 2, Elden Ring: Nightreign, and Marvel Rivals to win its second award.

One of the biggest praises for the game is that, in an era where games can be criticised for being too easy to progress through, the playerbase finds it challenging to progress. This is due to the advanced combat mechanics and the low health that your character Hornet has, in comparison high damage that enemies give you in battles.

And that has been obviously displayed by the award, as players still find joy playing the game despite their struggles in the process.

When does the Hollow Knight: Silksong DLC drop?

As revealed last month, developers Team Cherry have announced that a free expansion is coming out sometime in 2026.

Titled Sea of Sorrow, the game will have an aquatic setting where there will be new tools to use and bosses to fight.

Due to the incredible reception the base game has received from critics and fans alike, we expect this expansion to also be well-received. Here’s hoping for another DLC to be announced after this for even more Hollow Knight action.
