This new Nintendo Switch 2 collection is bringing James Pond back from the depths

James Pond is making a comeback, with developer/publisher System 3 announcing James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough for Nintendo Switch 2.

Launching in October 2026, the new collection brings together 12 different versions of four classic James Pond games, while also introducing a new interactive “Pondverse” dedicated to the history of gaming’s favourite secret-agent fish.

At the heart of the release is a limited physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition, with System 3 confirming that no more than 6,000 copies will be produced. Rather than simply sticking a download code in a box, the collection will be supplied on a Nintendo Switch 2 game card, which is a huge win considering where we’re today at in terms of game preservation

The four included games are James Pond: Underwater Agent, James Pond 2: RoboCod, James Pond 3: Operation Starfish, and The Aquatic Games Starring James Pond and the Aquabats.

Across the collection, you will be able to experience 12 versions originally released across the Amiga 500, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, SNES, and Commodore 64. Each version retains its original visuals, audio, and gameplay, offering a pretty comprehensive look at how James Pond changed between platforms.

There are some modern additions, though. Multiple save-as-you-play slots, controller rumble, adjustable scanlines, custom bezels, and in-game audio controls will all be included, alongside localization for English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.

The newly created Pondverse goes even further into the series’ history, featuring character and villain biographies, level information, original packaging artwork, franchise timelines, and new 3D artwork based on the original pixel designs.

System 3 has even recorded a new title track called “Maybe”, inspired by James Pond villain Dr Maybe. The song will arrive on Spotify and Apple Music ahead of launch, while anyone who pre-orders the collection will receive a downloadable selection of James Pond music that includes the new track.

As previously stated, James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough launches for Nintendo Switch 2 in October 2026, but System 3 has yet to reveal the exact release date or purchasing details.
