Resident Evil Requiem, just like all other RE titles before it, has a plethora of different puzzles that you’ll need to work out in order to progress. While most of these are somewhat self-explanatory once you get the required items, there are some that are a little tricky.

The Severed Hand is an item that you can pick up early on in your playthrough, but the vast majority of you out there won’t know what its true power is.

Here, we’ll take a look at what the Severed Hand is used for in Resident Evil Requiem, so you’re not just wandering around with a random body part in your back pocket.

What is the Severed Hand used for in Resident Evil Requiem?

If you have picked up the Severed Hand at the Elevator after coming up from the Basement, no, it’s not just an Ethan Winters call back, there is, in fact, a use for it.

Most of you out there will have either picked it up and thrown it right back down or carried it around for the duration of your playthrough, at your wits’ end on how to get rid of it.

Well, we can reveal that it is in fact used in conjunction with the almost unsolvable The Final Puzzle.

This mystery was being touted as the hardest Resident Evil puzzle to decipher, but thankfully, this has now been solved.

As for when the Severed Hand comes into play is on your second playthrough of the game. Yes, you need to complete the game once, doing various initial steps for The Final Puzzle, and then the Severed Hand is needed.

Once you have the Severed Hand, head to the Blood Lab where you can analyze the hand.

When the screen boots up to analyze, you’ll need to hit the far left, middle, and then the far right node, and this will activate all the atoms, completing the analysis.

The next screen will give you a sequence which can then be deciphered to continue The Final Puzzle.

Interestingly, you can also cross-reference the code to amino acids, which, lined up, spell the word GLITCH. We’re not sure if this is an intentional easter egg, but fitting all the same.

So there you have it, the Severed Hand is just one part of The Final Puzzle solve. If this is a bit complex for you, maybe just stick to safes in Resident Evil Requiem for easy, guaranteed loot
