Push Gaming drops RetroVerse, expanding its hit retro slot series with new mechanics
Push Gaming is keeping its foot firmly on the gas in 2026 with the launch of RetroVerse, the latest entry in its growing “Retro” slot series.
Following on from the likes of Retro Tapes and Retro Sweets, this new release looks to evolve the formula further, bringing fresh mechanics into a framework that you may have dabbled in before.
Coming off the back of recent launches like Wild Swarm 3 Chocolate Eggs and Big Bamboo 2, RetroVerse fits neatly into what’s shaping up to be a packed release schedule for the studio this year.
If early impressions are anything to go by, it might end up being one of the more ambitious entries in the lineup.
A bigger, bolder take on the Retro formula
RetroVerse sticks with the series’ classic 6×9 grid, delivering cluster-style gameplay that Push Gaming has looked to lean on in recent years.
It’s a setup that already lends itself to fast-paced action, but this time around, the developer has layered in new mechanics designed to keep spins feeling unpredictable and engaging.
Two features stand out immediately. The first is Mystery Wilds, which can appear across the grid and transform into symbols that help form larger clusters. It’s a simple idea and doesn’t exactly rock the boat in the slot world, but one that can quickly swing a spin in your favor when it lands at the right moment.
Then there’s the Light Gun mechanic, which adds a more active twist. When triggered, it targets symbols on the grid and converts them, often creating new potential wins out of nowhere. It’s a feature that feels very in keeping with the retro arcade theme the series is going for, while also giving the gameplay a bit more oomph.
Building on a growing fan-favourite series
As previously alluded to, Push Gaming has quietly turned its Retro series into one of its more recognisable brands since Retro Tapes landed back in 2022.
With each release, the studio has added new layers, and RetroVerse continues that trend by pushing both the visuals and mechanics further.
According to Senior Game Designer Amit Samji, the goal here was to expand rather than reinvent, keeping the identity of the series intact while adding “hidden potential” that reveals itself over time.
