Prepare for Sailing in Old School RuneScape before November 19 launch
Old School RuneScape has been on quite the journey since its reboot back in 2013, bringing the classic 2007 RuneScape experience back for everyone to enjoy.
While there have been a plethora of new introductions in the form of additional quests, fresh bosses to take on, and more items to secure, there hasn’t been a new skill added to the pool yet.
That all changes on November 19 when Sailing gets introduced to OSRS and the race to level 99 begins anew.
How to prepare for OSRS Sailing ahead of November 19
Since everyone will be losing their Max Capes as soon as Sailing launches in OSRS, it’s best to get ahead of the game and start prepping for when the time comes.
There will obviously be some questing and crafting involved on your Sailing escapades, so you know what that means – draining your GP for the required items.
However, what we know by doing a little digging is that you’re going to need things like Logs, Planks, and Nails, so stocking up on those now will be ideal.
There are some other items you can secure to aid you in this, such as the Sawmill Voucher, which can be exchanged when cashing in logs for double the amount of Planks. It’s these kinds of complementary items that will really help lower the GP cost.
As for the Nails, if you’re looking to make these yourself, you’re going to need a hell of a lot of Bars. Naturally, if you’re on an Ironman, you’ll be stacked on Ore and Bars, but if not, better get to mining right away to again reduce the GP cost of levelling Sailing.
What we recommend after reading this is to head over to resources such as Figment’s Sailing Prep spreadsheet, where you’ll be able to input a bunch of data to give you some rough estimates on the quantity of items you need and how hard it’s hitting your wallet.
And finally, Jagex itself has revealed what it thinks you should be looking out for when prepping for Sailing, and you can see this below.

It obviously touches on the above recommendations from ourselves, and also touches on some potential levels you should be at, as well as quests that need to be completed to get Sailing going.
