Pokemon Legends: Z-A looks to be the series’ most customizable adventure yet
The latest Pokemon Presents was a little lackluster to say the least, with few announcements that truly get the juices flowing.
However, what we did get a good look at is Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and more specifically, how much customization is available to you on your adventure through Lumiose City.
In previous mainline Pokemon titles and the first Legends spinoff in Legends: Arceus, you have been able to switch up the look of your Trainer slightly, with new threads to don and hairstyles to chop and change.
In Legends: Z-A, the whole customization portion has a brilliant set of upgrades, adding to what was done before in a dramatic fashion.
There are the usual presets you’re accustomed to, such as the aforementioned hairstyles, but you’re really able to go down a customization rabbit hole here with eyelash options, various makeup placements, and even contacts for your eyes, among many more tweaks.
Outfits have got an overhaul too, not only in the style department, but also allowing you to have a plethora of different color combinations, adding to the uniqueness of your Trainer like never before.
There’s one thing for certain, this is probably one of the first times in Pokemon games that you and your friends will have a stark contrast in how you look throughout your time in Kalos.
We didn’t even get a full look at all of these customization options in July’s Pokemon Presents either, so when Z-A launches on October 16, you will be able to delve deeper into what’s available to you, and craft the Trainer to match your specific personality.
In conjunction with the changes you can make to your trainer, for a certain Pokemon, you’ll actually be able to switch up their look too.
The specific wording out of the Pokemon Presents presentation was that you can trim the Pokemon Furfrou “into fashionable styles”, akin to that of what was possible in Pokemon X and Y, albeit via a slightly different method.
Whether more Pokemon become customizable later down the line remains to be seen but this is an awesome starting point in what will likely become a main staple in the franchise, especially with Generation 10 on the horizon, coupled with the Nintendo Switch 2’s upgraded capabilities.
