Here’s if you can get shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Champions
Another Pokemon game, another chance to potentially sink countless hours in to get special shiny versions to show off to your friends and opponents.
Yes, Pokemon Champions is here, and if you’re a keen shiny hunter, you’re probably going to want to know if you’re able to get these, even if the whole premise of the title is battling.
Let’s get into if shinies are available so you know if you’re going to lose your life to a Pokemon game once again.
Can you get shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Champions?
Even though you won’t be going around different regions hunting in the tall grass or fishing in patches of water, there is a way to obtain shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Champions.
You do this via the Roster Ranch mechanic, where you’re able to recruit a selection of Pokemon in an almost gacha-like system, ready to throw into your team.
If you’re lucky, there is a chance that one or more of these will have a star animation surrounding its shadow when it pops up, indicating that it is a shiny variant.
You’ll then be able to inspect it yourself, including its moves and stats, after that, while also seeing the shiny color in all its glory.
There are a few recruitment options, but you’ll likely want to make any shiny you get a permanent addition to your collection.
The huge drawback to shiny hunting in Champions, though, is that you can’t transfer them over to Pokemon HOME once obtained.
This means you can’t use them in other Pokemon titles, they’re essentially locked to Pokemon Champions only, which is a real shame.
You can transfer any shinies from HOME to Champions, but there are a lot of restrictions due to moves, etc., so you may not actually have any eligible Pokemon available.
