No More Room in Hell 2 hits 1 million players after huge 1.0 turnaround
No More Room in Hell 2 has officially made it past one million players, with its audience doubling in the space of just one week following the game’s full 1.0 launch.
Torn Banner Studios and publisher Green Man Gaming have announced the milestone after the co-op zombie survival game made the jump out of Early Access and launched across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
It’s a particularly impressive turnaround considering No More Room in Hell 2 spent around two years in Early Access, where reception was, let’s say, decidedly more mixed.
According to Torn Banner, the 1.0 launch brought in a whopping 500,000 players, effectively doubling the game’s total audience. Player sentiment has also reportedly climbed significantly, with positive reviews across PC and console peaking at an impressive 90%.
The launch has given the PC version a solid second wind, too. During its first week following 1.0, No More Room in Hell 2 reached as high as number four on Steam’s top-selling games chart in the United States.
“When we first launched into Early Access, we knew we had work to do – but we refused to give up on the vision or our community,” Torn Banner Studios CEO and Creative Director Steve Piggott said.
A big part of the renewed interest is likely down to the game’s console debut, alongside full crossplay between PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The 1.0 version also substantially expands the eight-player co-op survival horror experience, adding new maps, game modes, and broader gameplay refinements, while retaining its pretty unforgiving permadeath system.
To celebrate reaching one million players, Torn Banner is also handing out three Merits to everyone who has played so far.
The reward will be automatically added when you next log in, provided you do so before August 24 at 5pm BST.
