Lego games are always a fun affair, especially when you pair them with a well-known franchise, and Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is shaping up to be potentially one of the largest experiences we’ve had.

Usually, co-op is baked into the vast majority of these Lego titles, allowing you to experience the brick-based fun with another, while also putting your brains together to solve any puzzles.

But, does Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight follow suit by having multiplayer elements, or will you be fighting the Joker alone?

Is Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight multiplayer?

Yes, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight does have multiplayer, but it is limited to two-player local couch co-op only. This means you can team up with a friend or family member on the same system, but there won’t be traditional online co-op available.

So, if you were hoping to patrol Gotham with a Robin counterpart from across the country, sadly, they’ll have to be in the same room. Although, since you will only need one copy of the game, local multiplayer means you don’t have to shell out any more cash.

This does keep things in line with what many Lego fans will be used to, though. The series has long been at its best when two players are mucking about on the same screen, one actually solving the puzzle while the other is busy smashing anything in sight for extra studs.

Something to note is that there is a small silver lining for PC players, as the Steam page lists Remote Play Together support. This isn’t the same as full online co-op, but it should allow someone to stream the local co-op session to another player through Steam, provided both sides have a decent enough connection.

You also can technically play the main game offline, though online access will be required to download updates. Since there’s no proper online multiplayer, subscriptions like PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass Core, or Nintendo Switch Online aren’t needed to play either.
