Estória

2025 has seen a renaissance in point-and-click adventure games, and in the final days of the year, another one has arrived in Estória.

Developed and published by Jonathan Jahnke, you play as Luna, the daughter of a lighthouse keeper in Pilot Town, a remote island that is part of the Kingdom of Estória.

Though you can see the regional capital, the isle of Estória, from Luna’s lighthouse, King Ren and Queen Lorna have not voyaged out to the wider kingdom in more than 15 years. With it being especially strange considering that Pilot Town’s Governor, Governor Kreel is planning on marrying their daughter, Princess Marcella, very soon.

When an elderly man washes up on the shore near Luna’s lighthouse following a storm and implores her to take his amulet and to find the princess in order to save the kingdom.

Bella goes on a journey beyond her wildest dreams as she solves puzzles and finds out about the mysteries surrounding Estória.

The game has the hallmarks of a classic point-and-click thriller. The 2D design, coupled with the engaging interactions you have with the many characters you encounter along the way, immerses you into the intriguing storyline.

This may be Dahnke’s publishing debut, but its bright landscape and beautiful scenery makes the graphics not dissimilar to games made by developers with huge teams and budgets. Estória  is a phenomenal game considering that it was all made by one individual.

The game is priced at $4.99 (£4.49) on both the App Store and Steam but should you purchase the game on itch.io, it is available for just $2.50 here.

Should you want to purchase the game, it will take up less than 1 GB of storage, meaning you’ll likely have enough room to get it installed.
