Aaron Paul wants to start recording “multiple seasons” of Dispatch
Dispatch has been a huge hit for AdHoc Studio, bringing back the classic Telltale Games feel that you may not have even known you were missing. While the story is fantastic, one of its huge strengths is obviously the voice cast, which really brings the ensemble to life.
Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame is a big driver of this, playing main character Robert Robertson. In a recent interview with fellow castmate Charles White Jr., also known on the interwebs as MoistCr1TiKaL, he’s already down to record “multiple seasons” of the game.
Aaron Paul wants to get moving on Dispatch Season 2
Paul gushed about the team behind Dispatch, noting that every person is “so passionate about what they do,” and “the love and the care that they put into these stories is truly blinding.”
What is frustrating, though, is that with Dispatch Episodes 7 & 8, this initial part of the story is coming to a close. Paul certainly shares the annoyance of not having more content for the massive audience the game has garnered, stating that it is “unfortunate” that “it takes so much time” to make.
With the success of the game, there appears to be little doubt that a Season 2 is going to be greenlit but when we’ll see this is very much up in the air.
When could we expect to see Dispatch Season 2?
While Dispatch isn’t some expansive open world behemoth akin to the likes of The Elder Scrolls 6, for example, that has been in development for what seems like eternity, it still takes significant time to craft.
The animation alone is a huge undertaking and there are so many scene variations based on the choices you make, not to mention getting everyone in the booth to record their lines.
AdHoc was formed in 2018, so technically Dispatch has been in development for a whopping seven years, but it’s likely that things didn’t get fully up and running for a little while after that.
Now, since there are a whole bunch of assets in the studio’s library, the talent is up to speed on how they create a game of this ilk, and potential expansion due to the sheer number of sales, it’s pretty safe to say that we won’t be waiting another seven years for Dispatch Season 2.
What’s more likely is around a two year hiatus while new story beats are being crafted, dialogue is being recorded, and animation is in full flow.
For now, though, we’ll have to settle with replaying all eight Episodes of Dispatch we have, where you can hopefully go though and avoid any pitfalls you may have fallen into the first time around.
