What is Kuiper Roulette?

Kuiper Roulette is set in a casino in outer space, where hopeless celestial beings are gambling their very existence for the chance to double their wealth. The Kuiper Roulette game itself is a turn-based card game that does rely on luck, but there’s strategy in the items and boosts you’ll acquire, along with the opportunity to steal, trade, and manipulate your rival. 

The Kuiper Roulette gameplay trailer begins at a table where it’s just your mysterious opponent and the event deck in front of you. The cards in the deck are made up of safe cards, item cards, and asteroid cards, and you’ll be told how many of each card is in the deck. Unlike similar games in this vein, the randomness of safe and dangerous cards is taken out because you actually get to manually re-order the deck. This means that you’ll have to use your cards that wield special abilities to counter the deck and the moves made by your opponent.

There are 28 cards to strategize with in the Kuiper Roulette game. Examples include a useful Shield card that protects you for two turns from being struck by an asteroid, a Cryofreeze card that freezes your opponent to force them to skip their turn, while the Timebomb card will attach the enemy to a device made of dynamite and deal damage by blowing them up after they get five turns.

The general rule of thumb is to maintain your turn for as long as possible, keep the safe cards, and take down your opponent with the deadly asteroid cards. However, Kuiper Roulette features a timer on the screen, enabling fast-paced gameplay, but less time to plan for the next move. The presence of items allows for bonuses to be stacked. 

Protoformation, for example, means cards that grant self-effects will last for a longer period of time and will increase some card stats. Shield, in this instance, protects you from asteroids and reduces bomb damage, although comets can disable this effect. Earning achievements even has an extra layer beyond acknowledging your success, as they play a role in unlocking more items and card packs.

The goal in Kuiper Roulette is to be the last player standing in the duel to progress through the modes and beat the game. To customize your Kuiper Roulette gameplay, you can choose from four game modes, with your own starter pack, difficulty level, and AI logic. The game modes available are Competitive, Satisfactory, Rush, and Unfortunacy. 

Who is the developer of Kuiper Roulette?

The developer of Kuiper Roulette is RYKG, an indie developer that has already published video games on Itch.io. They’re responsible for the bullet hell game, Pluto VS Space Chip, where you play as the dwarf planet Pluto and fight off the leader of the Pluto hate group to restore your position in the universe. Although Kuiper Roulette gambling elements mix with strategy, this game does maintain the space theme in its setting, animations, and the fact that your opponent is a dwarf planet.

Kuiper Roulette developer, RYKG, is also the creator of Anxiety Maths 3D, a horror game where you are tasked with solving math problems as The Subject before a spike kills you. As you can see, RYKG has experimented across genres, which isn’t unusual for indie game developers.

When will Kuiper Roulette be released?

The Kuiper Roulette release date was December 6, 2025. Despite already launching projects, Kuiper Roulette will be RYKG’s first game to roll out on Steam. It’s unknown at this stage if the game will receive any post-launch content.

Is Kuiper Roulette like Buckshot Roulette?

Kuiper Roulette is similar to Buckshot Roulette in its premise of gambling against an opponent and using items to outwit them and battle it out for your survival. However, the Kuiper Roulette video game is centered around a deck of cards rather than a shotgun, which dictates the outcome of the duel. 

In Kuiper Roulette, you also get access to card packs featuring mechanics to sway the odds in your favor, while also having the ability to stack items to gain more powerful bonuses on your side. There are more chances to manipulate rounds in Kuiper Roulette in comparison to Buckshot Roulette, as you’re able to reorder the deck, give a card to your opponent, and select your starter pack.
