A High on Life 2 game announcement was made through a trailer shown at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2025. The High on Life 2 trailer begins with an advert for a new drug named Humanzapro, before bursting into action and giving a vibrant glimpse into the new world you’ll traverse. At the end of this trippy journey, you’ll fall into the bottle of Humanzapro, already hinting at what’s to come.

As more High on Life 2 details have emerged since the initial game announcement, we’ve got a roundup of everything we know so far about what the highly anticipated second game will entail.

High on Life 2 release date and platforms

The High on Life 2 release date is February 13, 2026. The sequel will take place after the events of the first game, sporting a new story to discover, more environments to explore, an expansion to the gameplay mechanics, and so much more.

As for platforms, the game will be playable on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. High on Life 2 Game Pass availability has been confirmed, joining the Ultimate tier of the subscription service on day one.

Although the original High on Life received a Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade, a High on Life 2 Switch port has yet to be announced at the time of writing.

What is the story in High on Life 2?

High on Life 2 is set five years after the events of the first game. Now, you’re the most famous bounty hunter in the universe, but things take a turn for the worse. On the way to a celebrity endorsement event, a new bounty comes in, and it’s your sister, Lizzie. She has been building her own reputation, but will inevitably be swarmed by bounty hunters.

In the High on Life 2 game, you go from the hero to the bad guy as you go on a mission to try to protect your sister. Inevitably, this leads you to become a wanted outlaw by the same bounty network that you used to work for.

In the first High on Life, you stopped an alien cartel from kidnapping humans and turning them into drugs. However, an antidepressant known as Humanzapro features in High on Life 2 as the latest drug released by Rhea Pharmaceuticals. The company and its mysterious CEO will play a huge role in the narrative that ties into the High on Life 2 gameplay. The drug is made out of humans, but it’s still in its clinical trial phase, so it seems your mission to save humanity still isn’t over.

What will the world be like in High on Life 2?

High on Life 2 will be separated into three regions known as hubs. Your home base will remain where you will interact with your crew and accept missions. The developers have put a larger focus on side activities in High on Life 2, something that was lacking in the first game. Each hub is expected to be filled with side activities, collectibles to locate, NPCs to interact with, and so much more.

One of the hubs in High on Life 2 is known as Circuit Arcadia, and it’s bustling with life and color, while also being the home to Rhea Pharmaceuticals headquarters. In the Circuit Arcadia region, you can go to the movies, engage in speed dating, and complete activities related to your newly acquired skateboard, which aims to add a Metroidvania layer to the game (more on that later).

What characters will be in High on Life 2?

Despite new places to explore and stories to play through, there will be some familiar faces throughout your time with the High on Life 2 game. There’s, of course, your sister Lizzie, and Gene returns, going from your mentor and handler to your manager.

After you defeated the G3 Cartel in the first High on Life game, all the mercenaries left found themselves unemployed. Some of them went on to take jobs as the Good Guys, who are now an enemy faction you will battle. Mercenaries have evolved their tactics and are now fitted with body parts that may continue to attack you after the enemy has been taken out, adding a new and interesting layer to combat.

Repticle is a lizard-like character in High on Life 2 who loves to get around on his skateboard and is one of the bounty hunters who is trying to kill Lizzie, meaning you’ll have to fight him. There are also hostile creatures that appear as blue characters called Buttons Gluttons, animal rights activists, and bikers who ride living motorcycles.

In relation to Rhea Pharmaceuticals, Senator Muppy Doo is a key figure in advocating for humans to be used in medicine. In the High on Life 2 demo that was playable at Gamescom 2025, Muppy Doo appeared as a boss fight with a unique shrinking ability, which allows him to infiltrate your suit and your Suit-O assistant. This blends combat using your trusty crew of weapons with interface mini-game battles to take him down.

New and returning weapons in High on Life 2

Since you built such a tight-knit crew of weapons in the first installment of the game, some of them are going to be returning in the sequel, along with their original High on Life voice actors. Those weapons are:

  • Knifey
  • Creature
  • Gus
  • Sweezy

New talkative High on Life guns will be joining the game too, one of which is named Sheath. He is a battle rifle at heart, but has a secondary ability that allows him to shoot spikes into enemies to be detonated, or used to create a spike zipline. Bowie, as the name suggests, is a bow and arrow that is fitted with a strange sticky hand, while Travis and Jan are the first duel-wielding weapons in the game. Travis is trying to figure himself out, while Jan is the outgoing party type, but the couple has intense chemistry that you’ll learn more about throughout your playthrough.

Other fresh bits of kit debuting in High on Life 2 are a skateboard that can be used any time you please for combat and traveling around the hubs, where there will even be skateboard-specific side content. You can even shoot your skateboard out as a weapon to detonate Sweezy’s crystals, so you won’t be short on ways to use it. Some local wildlife is also scattered around the world and acts as living pick up weapons to be used in battle. One such example is a Flint Turtle, a turtle that shoots fire out of its mouth.
