If you like rolling dice and getting big numbers that break the UI, then this 6 Ways To 7 roguelike may be for you. We’ve broken down all there is to know about how the game works and the unique twists you’ll encounter along the way.

Just like a traditional round of Craps, there are multiple layers to the 6 Ways To 7 game. You will start with a bankroll, which is how much you can bet with your chips that come in the values of one, five, ten, 25, 100, and 500. You will be set increasingly difficult blinds that you have to meet in order to progress to the next round, but if your bankroll runs out, it’s game over.

There are numerous avenues in which you can bet and meet the figures you need to reach in the 6 Ways To 7 game. First of all, there are Place numbers to bet on the individual numbers you can roll between four and ten. You can place a bet on as many of these numbers as you’d like, but if you roll a seven, you will lose all the chips you wagered. Also, there are Field bets you can place that secure you a win if your next roll is from the set of numbers shown on the screen. Pass Line bets win if you roll a seven or an 11 and lose on a two, three, or 12, otherwise a point will be set, and your bet remains active.

If that wasn’t enough, 6 Ways To 7 features Come and Don’t Come bets. After you establish a point for your Come bet by rolling the dice, you will want to roll the winning numbers. Just like the Pass Line, the winning numbers are seven or an 11, and losing numbers are a two, three, or twelve, but your personal point changes if you roll outside of those figures. The Don’t Come Line switches the winning and losing numbers around, so your strategy will depend on which of these you’d like to gamble on.

The bets that have the potential for the biggest payouts out of all the 6 Ways To 7 gambling mechanics are Horn and Hardways. Horn Bets are singular roll bets that either hit or miss on the next roll. You can bet on four dice combinations that will pay out if rolled, which are two, three, 11, or 12. As for Hardways, here you can bet on rolling doubles, but this only wins if the double you bet on is rolled before a seven or before the dice spits out the number in another way (for example, rolling a three and a one instead of a double two).

Throughout the game, you will be able to bet on all the options at your disposal, your favorite few, or even just the one. As long as you’re reaching your set blind, it doesn’t matter what your approach is. However, the 6 Ways To 7 roguelike capabilities allow you to change the rules by purchasing abilities with the gold you accumulate on your run. Special chips have effects on the bets you place, including the 4-10 Splitter that, on a four or 10 hit, adds a wager to the sister number, and Payer 6/8 that banks you two gold on a six or eight win. Special Dice are able to change the randomness of rolls, such as Hot Shooter, a dice type that contains all numbers, but rolls a three and a four more often. The shop also allows you to acquire more chips to keep that all-important bankroll healthy, and you can even buy upgrades for the payouts of different bets.

Apart from the volatile odds of winning your bets, NPCs are part of the 6 Ways To 7 gameplay to contribute another element of unpredictability. These NPCs watch over your run and either add to or cause problems for your strategy. The Field Fiend, for instance, bets the Field and will re-roll a non-field roll once, while The Pit boss steals 30 chips from every win.

The 6 Ways To 7 developer goes by the name of Axelstems. This indie developer has released games in the past, including a strategy game named West Marches, a puzzle game that involves balancing an ecosystem with Eco Balance, and a volatile 3D Coin Pusher Extreme. All these games are playable on Itch.io, but 6 Ways To 7 will be the first game by Axelstems to debut on Steam.

A free and paid version of the game is available to play on Itch.io, but the Steam 6 Ways To 7 release date is yet to be confirmed. The full experience includes scaling difficulties, over 70 special chips to power up your arsenal, ten special dice to steer the odds in your favor, plus over 15 different NPCs to accompany you at the table.

How long is the 6 Ways To 7 demo?

The 6 Ways to 7 demo isn’t long, as it’s made up of just ten levels you have to clear. But, the amount of time it takes you to try and potentially fail at reaching each blind given to you could make beating the demo a little longer. Additionally, it may take some time to learn the game and develop a strategy if you aren’t familiar with the rules of Craps. Even if you do beat the demo, there’s an abundance of replayability through the many special dice and chip combinations, along with the unpredictable rolls and presence of random NPCs that require you to develop a new strategy with every unique run.
