SpongeBob and Patrick Take on the Universe

Fans of the iconic animated series, SpongeBob SquarePants, will be thrilled to know that THQ Nordic and Nickelodeon have teamed up to release a brand new cross-platform action-adventure game, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake! The new gameplay trailer, released today, gives fans a sneak peek of the cosmic adventure that awaits them. The game will feature all of the beloved Bikini Bottomites, including SpongeBob, his best friend Patrick, his house snail Gary, karate-pro Sandy, the music-loving Squidward, and many more, all voiced by the original voice actors.

The game's plot centers around a vial of magic bubble soap given to SpongeBob and Patrick by a mysterious fortune teller named Kassandra. What starts as harmless fun quickly turns into a cosmic catastrophe as the wishes made with the soap cause the fabric of reality to unravel and magical WishWorlds to open up everywhere. With many of SpongeBob's friends being sucked into these strange worlds, it's up to players to control SpongeBob as he dons various cosmic costumes and travels to the WishWorlds to bring back his friends and restore Bikini Bottom. However, players should be wary, as Kassandra may not be the helpful figure she appears to be.

The game will be available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and is set to release on January 31st, 2023. Pre-orders for the game are available now, and the game will include a Costume Pack for free when pre-ordered. 

Since its launch in 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has been the most-watched animated series for 22 consecutive years. It has generated a massive following with its character-driven cartoon chronicles of SpongeBob and his friends' nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures. With the release of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, fans of the franchise will have another way to enjoy the world of Bikini Bottom and its colorful inhabitants.
